Speedy Gonzales is a popular cartoon character from the Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies series of cartoons. Known as "The Fastest Mouse in all Mexico," he is characterized by his incredible speed and penchant for outsmarting his adversaries, most notably Sylvester the Cat.
Speedy Gonzales first appeared in the 1953 cartoon Cat-Tails for Two. His design and personality were later refined in the 1955 cartoon Speedy Gonzales, which won an Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film. In this cartoon he often helps other mice from Sylvester the cat.
The character is often portrayed wearing a large sombrero, white shirt and pants, and a red neckerchief. He frequently yells "¡Ándale! ¡Ándale! ¡Arriba! ¡Arriba! ¡Epa! ¡Epa! ¡Epa!" to express his excitement and speed.
